It was definitely tense. Joker by Joaquin Phoenix was crazy, but not same crazy as Joker by Heath Ledger, that was a pure evil, classic antihero, sick to the core. Joker from Todd Phillips was a broken down person, who had a condition, but had dreams and hopes as well, and he was trying to live normally, share happiness into the darkest world. I couldn’t say that you may not sympathize them both, they were just different. Joker by Joaquin Phoenix was loved by his mom only, and other people didn’t even try to accept him as a person. Throughout the movie Joker had pain so severe, that he started to become delusional. The reality was lost; everything he knew and believed in was lost. Music, acting and atmosphere of Gotham were adding final touches to a desperate figure of Joker. He was scary as a human being. At one point I felt like Joker is not a character, but a collective image of our society, sick and lost.
