The problem is with the story and character development. Things start off with an onscreen blurb about this being Andy’s favorite film. Poor Andy, aside for some nice toys, had a depraved childhood.

The problem is with the overly expansive story and the achingly complicated character development with one Buzz Lightyear. Things start off with an onscreen blurb about this being Andy’s favorite film. Poor Andy, aside for some nice toys, had a depraved childhood. Although the animation is great and the story seems promising during the first half, the movie falters in the home stretch. To give you an idea of how bad of a story arch idea they pursued, I was begging the movie to “not go there” with Lightyear’s nemesis. And it did anyway. After these “Zurg” scenes I cringed for storydom. This one will be quickly forgotten and soon end up in the small trash can of Disney mistakes.
