Synopsis

A touching story of an Italian book seller of Jewish ancestry who lives in his own little fairy tale. His creative and happy life would come to an abrupt halt when his entire family is deported to a concentration camp during World War II. While locked up he tries to convince his son that the whole thing is just a game.

    A father who puts his life at risk for his wife and son, it is not anyone's place to comment on this movie, it is simply legendary.

    While first half is light and naive, the second one is simply heartbreaking. I think this movie is a must watch for parents.

    An impressive film about the human soul. It deals with the theme of father, son and love more for me than genocide. For those who want to watch another holocaust movie, I recommend "Schindler's List". "The Pianist" can be watched as a genocide movie that still reflects the war.
